Fès family cooking, on Rue Saint-Denis.

Slow tagines, couscous on Fridays and a pot of mint tea to finish. Fatima cooks, Youssef looks after the room, and you bring the wine.

Couscous Friday

In Morocco, Friday is couscous day. Families gather after midday prayer and the big dish goes in the middle of the table. We keep the same habit: we roll the couscous by hand on Friday morning, and when it's gone, it's gone.

Our story

Two of us, one recipe book from Fès

We opened in 2014 with eight tables and the notebook Fatima's mother gave her when she left Fès. Most of the menu still comes from it, written in her handwriting and stained with saffron.

Fatima runs the kitchen. Youssef runs the room and will happily tell you which tagine to order. We're not fancy. We just want you to leave full, and to come back on a Friday.

Good to know

Questions we get a lot

Can you handle allergies?

Tell us when you book and again when you order. We cook with nuts, sesame, wheat and eggs in one small kitchen, so we can't promise there's no trace, but we'll tell you honestly what's safe.

Is the meat halal?

Yes, all of it. We buy from the same two butchers on Jean-Talon we've used since we opened.

Can I really bring my own wine?

Yes. We don't have a liquor licence, so bring wine or beer and we'll open it and bring glasses. No corkage fee.

Do you do groups or private events?

For 8 or more, call us. On Sundays and Mondays we can close the room for parties of up to 40, with a set menu we plan together.

Are kids welcome?

Very. We have high chairs, and the kefta and couscous are usually a hit. Earlier tables are calmer if you have little ones.
